- After you have made your final vendor selections make sure you have written & signed contracts in place to insure against anything going wrong. You will need to maintain good communication with them & make sure they know exactly what you want & when you want it. Make sure the contracts you have written up include everything you want. If you want to add something in later on make sure it is added to the contract or that a new one is drawn up.

Whilst this isn’t an exhaustive list it should enable you to begin your wedding planning & help you to sort out the most important elements first. Wedding Invitation Card

These can consist of Day and Evening invitations. The Day invitations are for the guests who you invite to the wedding ceremony, reception, and wedding meal. The Evening invitations are for the guests who are invited for the celebrations after the meal. These are sent out six-eight weeks before the wedding.

Order of Service Card

These inform your guests of what will be happening during the wedding ceremony. They are usually handed out on the day.

Place Name Card

If you are having a seating plan at the meal, then these are placed on the tables, so the guests know where to sit.

Thank You Card

These are your personal thank you to each guest for attending your wedding and for the lovely present they gave you.

The three main methods of obtaining your stationery are DIY, off-the-shelf, or bespoke.

DIY

DIY means “Do It Yourself”. Obviously, this means that your will make the wedding stationery yourself. If you are artistic and creative (or short of money), this could be the method for you. When it comes to design, the key is simplicity. Keep the design simple and it will look better and will take less time. However, you do not have to have to start entirely from scratch. Many shops and on line wedding stationery supplier sell DIY kits, which you can use and adapt to your own needs.

Off-The-Shelf

Off-the-shelf means designs bought from shops. Many shops, web sites, and department stores have large selections of existing designs that you can use. The selection is vast and can range from the humorous to the beautiful and elegant. You just select the design you want and they order it for you. Because of the sheer range of designs available, you need not feel you are picking one that everyone else has used. It is a quick and efficient way of choosing and ordering your stationery.

Bespoke

Bespoke means that your design is hand-made especially for you. You can either get the company to adapt a design from their own portfolio or create an exclusive design for you. This is obviously the most expensive option, as it requires more consultations and more work for the designer. If you are ordering from a distance, then it is important that you are able to see draft designs before committing yourself to the final product.

Finally, when buying stationery you should always order five-ten extra cards to cover any last-minute guests or a slip of the pen if you are writing the names by hand.

Beach weddings

Beach weddings are located on the sandy public beaches of Barbados; popular beaches for weddings in Barbados are on the south west coast and the west coast of the island. A beachfront wedding can be as large or as small as you want it. With the reception being held at the any of the nearby restaurants that back the beach.

Your wedding location can be decorated with a decorated arch and your isle created by placing a bed of petals or isle runners for you to walk down. Also dependant on your budget a marquee could be placed onto to the beach, please bear in mind facilities such as rest rooms may have to be hired in, as some locations do not offer this.

This way your partner and you or even a few close friends and family could get away and sail out to sea with your own captain and crew.

You can laze around on deck or take a drive with the sea turtles, but what ever you choose, you know it will be a day to remember.

Unless the location is your top priority, choose the dream location and a few alternative sites that will be just right for you, so that if necessary you can be flexible. Some location are natural for weddings and offer all the amanities you need. Others rent the space and leave the rest to you, still others are free but you have to make all the arrangements. So, consider your wedding budget, consider the work involved, consider your guests and choose the site that will afford you your dream wedding. FULL SERVICE WEDDING SITE and FACILITIES

These are venues that can take care of every little detail regarding your ceremony and reception. You’ll still need to attend to your personal needs. You’ll need to attend to the attire, wedding accessories and wedding gifts for each other, family, and wedding attendants.

Many wedding sites that are available on a rental basis. Some provide the space, others provide tables and chairs too, while still others provide linens, tableware, flatware and glassware as well. Many apartment complexes, condominums, mobil home parke and gated communities have club houses available for residents to use. So whether you choose to have your wedding in a home or a club house, you’ll need to be in charge. Do recruit your family and friends and assign them appropriate tasks. Most will be honored to be asked and excited to be a contributing part of your wedding.

Once you have chosen the type of wedding site you want for your wedding, do the following:

Ask your family, friends and acqaintances for recommendations.

Attend bridal shows.

search the yellow pages under the appropriate category.

Either call or visit the facility and request a brochure specific to weddings.

You want only the best! Be selective! Before you commit consider the following:

When visiting or calling, were you greeted cordially?

Were you able to obtain the information you requested in a timely manner?

Were the people you spoke with helpful? Too helpful and eager?

Now, check the internet for local wedding sites and go to their websites.

Do you like the look and feel?

Does it provide you with the information you are looking for?

Does it show or tell about unique one-of-a-kind weddings?

Does it offer, Free wedding articles or Free wedding information?

Is the web site helpful?

Did you find a clearly posted name, address, phone and email contact?

If the answer is no to any of these questions, skip it and go to another web site.

Bookmark (favorite) the websites that are agreeable. Place the brochures from facilities you visited in a folder until you are ready to choose a few favorites.

WHAT to EXPECT of the REPRESENTATIVE of the FACILITY YOU VISIT:

A business card of each person you may work with within the facility,

A brochure that explains what is offered and any exclusions, rules, regulations and options,

References,

A tour of the facility so you may check their amenities.

* If you plan not to include children in your reception, do not alienate guests who’d rather bring children than miss your wedding. You should provide a babysitting service for such guests.

Beach weddings are gaining popularity, with it more and more brides to be are having trouble finding the right bridal wear for their big day at the beach. The traditional wedding dresses just won’t do in this more natural setting. Finding a dress that works can present some challenges for the bride to be.
